November 4-6, 2016, Funsch Dance’s full-length Le grand spectacle de l’effort et de l’artifice premieres at ODC Theater
Funsch Dance Experience, under the Artistic Direction of Christy Funsch
(named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” for her “intensely private yet accessible, casual yet elegant [pieces]…she mesmerizes with impeccably crafted movement packed with rich details”) presents its latest epic, Le grand spectacle de l’effort et de l’artifice, a full-length work for six dancers that examines artifice, workmanship, and spectacle.
The encompassing work by Christy Funsch embeds Daniel Nagrin’s seminal solo from 1965, Path. Le grand spectacle features performances by Arletta Anderson, Christy Funsch, Chinchin Hsu, Courtney Moreno, Karla Quintero, and Nol Simonse, with Yvette Niccolls and Desiree Rogers. Musical composition by Daniel Steffey and Ryan Ross Smith, performed live, and lighting design by Delayne Medoff.
